The World College West Alumni Database and Historical Repository

World College West (WCW) was founded in 1973 by 7 students and 7 faculty in Marin County with the intent "to help each student discover and prepare for his or her own venture in the world so that each person-having both competence an a sense of purpose and self-worth-may become an effective humanizing agent in a world which needs effective conveyors and supporters of human values". World College West had unique world study programs to Nepal, Mexico and China, where at least one of the four undergraduate years would be spent in-country, in both urban and rural settings.

While ultimately World College West had to be closed for financial reasons, New College of California accepted a small number of students as The World College Institute at New College, which continues to house many of the World College West international world-study programs and a few former World College West faculty. More recently, World College West founding President, Dick Gray, has founded Presidio World College in San Francisco. The mission of Presidio World College, an affiliate of Alliant International University, is to continue a 30-year-old tradition of innovative, sustainability-focused, experiential education which was started at World College West in 1973.

This website is intended to be a place for former World College West alumni to keep their data up to date for the purpose of facilitating further inter-communication in the void left from the old World College West. Please feel free to help by making your suggestions, comments and feedback available to us.
